Iron rod punctures train: nobody hurt

On the Hanze-route between Lelystad and Dronten a train was punctured by a heavy metal rod. The incident occurred near Lelystad just before 23:00, Sunday night. The driver and the 150 passengers were not hurt. Police found iron on the tracks. So far it's not clear how it got there. When the train passed over the iron a rod was launched through the steps in one of the connecting sections, forcing the train to a halt near the crossover with the A6. iron rod punctured train
@mistera3/ Twitter Buses were deployed to carry the passengers to their destination in Zwolle. The NS assumes vandalism, but the police will not confirm that yet. 'The police are conducting an investigation along the tracks, but for now assume "intent," according to an NS spokesperson. Train traffic on that section has come to a complete stop, per police orders, which will affect Monday's timetable. 'The Hanze-route is used 24 hours a day, and train sets are taken to their starting stations during the night for the morning commute,' said a NS spokesperson.
