Cop dragged by car fleeing alcohol checkpoint
During an alcohol control in Den Haag on Sunday morning, a car was stopped at a checkpoint. In an attempt to evade the control, however, the driver drove off. A policeman was dragged alongside the vehicle for several dozen meters, the police report.
The control checkpoint was set up on the Hoefkade. After the police officer signaled the driver to stop, the officer opened the car door. As the officer spoke to the man in the car, the driver took off suddenly, with the policeman still holding on to the door.
The officer was dragged several dozens of meters. As the driver maneuvered the vehicle close a row of parked cars, the police officer finally let go so as not to collide with the cars.
The policeman has been taken to hospital, and is doing well all things considered. Two men aged 20 and 21 were apprehended on the Hoefkade, and are awaiting questioning.
