MH17 victim Tamara Ernst identified

The body Dutch MH17 victim Tamara Ernst has been identified.

The 34-year-old Zwollenaar on Tuesday became the first of the 195 Dutch nationals who perished in the Malaysian Airline tragedy to be identified. Earlier the father of British national Liam Sweeney (28) announced that forensic researchers had been able to identify the remains of his son.

Tamara Ernst worked at SportService Zwolle. “She was a valued colleague and over the years became a source of support for many of her co-workers,” her employer wrote about her on social media.

The world was sent into mourning when the Malaysian Airline Boeing 777 was hit by a missile and crashed in the Donetsk region of the Ukraine on July 17, killing 298 passengers and crew. The aircraft was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

Remains of victims have been flown by military aircraft to Eindhoven, from where they were taken to the Corporal Van Oudheusdenkazerne in Hilversum, where a team of forensic technicians has taken on the grim task of identifying them.
