Five arrested over apparent robbery
Five people were arrested in Amsterdam Thursday night, after what seemed like a robbery at Van Speijkstraat.
Police had rushed to the scene just after 10.00pm when someone reported seeing three armed men invading a house in the street. When the officers arrived, they spotted two men who fit the description; upon realizing that they had been spotted, one of them ran, but police were able to catch both of them quickly. Officers fired two warning shots in the air.
Not far off, the officers spotted a car of which the engine was running, with two women in it. They were immediately arrested, on suspicion of involvement.
Police also arrested the victim of the apparent robbery; it concerns a 39-year-old man from Amsterdam. The two women in the car –aged 19 and 23- both hail from Rotterdam. The man that were held on the street were a 30-year-old from The Hague and an individual with unknown residence. They were carrying drugs and money on them when they were held.
Police say they are still investigating what exactly transpired at the house.
