Dutchman arrested for trafficking Syrian refugees
A Dutch human trafficker has been arrested in Germany. The 51 year old man brought five Syrian refugees from Italy to Germany.
Officers noticed the group on Monday. The Dutchman was arrested in a parking lot along the A7 near Würzburg.
In the parking lot two Syrians were monitored because they could not show a residence permit. They said that they had fled with three other Syrians, including a child, via Turkey to Italy where the Dutchman picked them up.
It is unclear whether Germany was the final destination, or if the group would have been brought to the Netherlands. The Dutchman was arraigned yesterday and is in custody. The five Syrians were put on a train by the police and must report to a refugee center.
