"Sex pest" rabbi worries Amsterdam residents

Residents of Buitenveldert are not happy that the controversial Rabbi Eliezer Berland has settled down in their neighborhood. Residents worry about their safety because the rabbi is suspected in Israel of sexual offenses, Het Parool reports. Others complain about the cars with followers driving up and down and the supporters hanging around in front of the door. The men won't talk to women, which leads to uncomfortable situations. One neighbor says the fling trash around. The rabbi's followers are staying all across Buitenveldert. More are expected to arrive because the Jewish festival Sukkot began yesterday. Rabbi Berland fled Israel where criminal charges await him for the sexual abuse of his female followers. The youngest victim was 15. He was recently arrested at Schiphol and is now waiting to find out whether he will be extradited to Israel.
