Firework complaint website launches Wednesday

The firework complaint website Vuurwerkoverlast.nl went online yesterday. This is the 3rd year in a row that citizens can express their complaints at this reporting point. 440 complaints have been registered so far. People can report their complaints until January 3rd. Vuurwerkoverlast.nl is an initiative of various GroenLinks factions. The reporting point received almost 90 thousand complaints last year. 70 percent of last year's complaints were regarding loud bangs from firework bombs, 15 percent were about pets that were upset by the fireworks. A number of municipalities have adopted fireworks free zones. GroenLinks wants to use the reporting point to determine whether the zones are effective and whether the shortening of the lighting times lead to fewer disturbances.
