One held for Rotterdam apartment explosion

The police arrested a 67 year old Rotterdam resident in the Maasstad Hospital on Friday. The man is suspected of causing the explosion in an apartment on Moddermanstraat in Schiebroek, Rotterdam on Sunday, February 1st. He will appear before the magistrate today. The man is the occupant of the apartment on the 3rd floor where the explosion supposedly took place. A massive fire broke out following the explosion. 13 people were injured and dozens of homes were made uninhabitable in the explosion and subsequent fire. The residents of the affected homes have been given shelter elsewhere. The suspect has been in the hospital since last week Sunday with severe burns. The investigation into the cause of the explosion is still ongoing.
