High winds delays, cancels Schiphol flights
Many flights on Schiphol airport have been delayed due to the strong winds. The strong westerly winds mean that fewer flights can take off or land at the airport, RTV Noord Holland reports.
A spokesperson for KLM told the newspaper that 26 flights have been cancelled so far and the delays run up to 2.5 hours. "We try to fly as much as possible." The spokesperson said. "We help the passengers who are affected to change their bookings."
The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute issued a Code Yellow warning for the strong winds which remains in effect until midnight tomorrow night. Travelers are advised to keep a close eye on Schiphol's website for information about their flights.
