New Roermond theme park bankrupt
The management of the brand new indoor theme park Yumble in Roermond has filed for bankruptcy, just four months after the park opened its doors.. The company announced in a statement on Wednesday that, due to disappointing visitor numbers and a party deciding to withdraw a financial injection at the last moment, Yumble had to close its doors, NU reports.
According to the management, the disappointing number of visitors can mainly be attributed to the delayed expansion of the adjacent Designer Outlet Roermond. The construction of the previously planned expansion of this Designer Outlet has been delayed for two years, leaving the grounds beside Yumle a large building site until mid-2017. "The intended synergy between Yumble and Designer Outlet Roermond has therefore not been achieved."
The management, in consultation with the bankruptcy curator, are looking for a way to achieve a restart. The Yumble staff was informed on Wednesday.
The construction of the theme park cost 22 million euros.
A note on the Yumble website and the theme park's doors states that the park will be closed for the next few weeks.
