Survey: Smartphones, tablets disrupt sex life

A third of Dutch people have noticed a deterioration in their sex life since the advent of tablets and smartphones. Among Dutch between the ages of 25 and 34 years, half think that this technology has a negative affect on their bedroom activities. This is according to a survey done by Maurice de Hond among three thousand Dutch people, the Telegraaf reported on Thursday. 60 percent of the respondents indicated that they take their smartphones to bed with them sometimes, half of them do so every night. Sexologist Bianca van Moorst says she has noticed this trend, but it is not a new thing. Before smartphones, television was the problem. "Clients with this type of complaint say the get the idea that the device control their lives. But adults are obviously in control of their stuff, not the other way around", she said to the newspaper. She advises couples to have a smartphone and tablet-free evening every once in a while.
