Some 50 students sick at Nijmegen sport grounds

Between 40 and 50 first year students fell sick for unknown reasons during an activity at sport grounds De Winkelsteeg in Nijmegen on Friday morning, a spokesperson for the fire department confirmed to Omroep Gelderland. According to the broadcaster, the students are registered at Hoogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen. They spent the week camping at the grounds for their orientation. What exactly made them ill is unknown. Ambulances were called in around 8:00 a.m. Health organization GGD Gelderland-Zuid reports that the students are vomiting, have diarrhea and mild fevers. The GGD's infections disease doctor is at the site. N1 reports that the students will not comment on what is going on. But they can be seen holding their stomachs and some were spotted crawling across the terrain.
